Checking in on March’s Theme: “Parallel Lines”.
I landed on this idea at the beginning of the month because as I rearranged my apartment, I realized I was abandoning my tradition of lining up the furniture askew to the wall. Instead I was lining up everything parallel to the wall.
I thought: This must be a symbol.
Of Something?
However, I have to admit, “Parallel Lines” (also a good Blondie album) hasn’t shown up as a metaphor or symbol anywhere this month. I think this month’s actual theme might be cappuccino. (!)
… Or Lorde:
…Or “Reaction Videos” :
….
The idea of “Parallel Lines” definitely has plenty of potential meanings:
Life-lesson-wise it could mean you’re traveling along next to something, but there’s no chance you’ll ever intersect with it. And that could mean A) You’ve gotta make a change in order to connect with this simpatico force! Or … B) You’re on the right track already because you’re keeping an evil shadow at bay?
There’s also the potential to speculate about a parallel universe. (Maybe Trump isn’t the president?)
The idea that’s most appealing to me is thinking about train tracks as the epitome of parallel lines. And so: “Parallel lines” represent two things working in tandem to support a greater cause.
Are we doing that?
This is also the month (this week) that the office got me an iPad and an iPad keyboard.
Still figuring March out, I guess.
